Senate Bill 18-200 was passed by the Colorado General Assembly on May 9, 2018. This bill ensures the funding levels of State Employee's retirement funds over a 30 year period. - Currently, employees contribute 8% to PERA.
- Beginning July 1, 2019, employees will pay an additional .75% for a total contribution of 8.75%.
- Beginning July 1, 2020, employees will pay an additional 1.25% for a total contribution of 10%.
Due to the economic climate, employee contributions to PERA will increase on July 1, 2020. To understand the reasoning behind it, please watch the following video: .
